Avshalom Birger was born in Be'er Yaakov. When being one year old, his family settled in Rishon Lezion.
He learned in the elementary school (Chaviv) in the township. After graduating, he began working in agriculture and later became the proprietor of his own farm; he persisted with that until his last day. He was simultaneously, a member in "Drom Judah" and in "Eged".
In his youth, he was a member in the "Haganah" and later, participated in all Israel's wars. A lot of volunteer work stand in his favor: he was one of the founders of a "Gunmen Group" – an agricultural watch, guarding the property of Rishon Lezion's orchards growers; a Civil Guard volunteer; a member of the Accidents Prevention Council; a police driver on behalf of the traffic department of the Israeli Police; a trustee for cleanliness keeping on behalf of the Ministry of the Interior.
25 years after his death, his family received Outstanding Member of the Israel Farmers Association.
