Dov Gissin was born in Rishon Le Zion. He studied at the local elementary school (Haviv) in the village. He was a farmer and was put into forced labour for the Turks, mainly planting vineyards in the Benedictine Monastery in Latrun.
He was one of the founding members of the "orchestra" and a member of the Farmers? Association. He was one of the first members of the transport co-op "Yehuda" which later became "Drom Yehuda". He was one of the founding members of the "Messilot" Transport Co. which engaged mainly in the transport of citrus fruit, wines and beer. Together with others he established the "Nafkir" cold storage and ice factory.
