His studies were temporarily interrupted upon the outbreak of the War of Independence and his being drafted to the Givati Brigade.
After the battles terminated, he was send by the IDF, to teach Hebrew - newly immigrated soldiers.
When the war was over, he returned to the college and completed his studies.
Later, he studied in the Tel -Aviv branch of the Hebrew University, for the B.A. degree.
In the years, 1954-1949, he was a teacher in the elementary school ("Chaviv") in Rishon Lezion and - in the school named after Smilansky, in Rechovot.
Starting in, 1954, and until his retirement in 1995, he worked at the State Comptroller's office and - part of that, for thirteen years, in the role of the appointee over the audit department of the Defense Ministry in the audit division of the defense system.
Since his retirement, he devotes himself to research and writing, in continuance with the writing of his father, David Horowitz, who began writing about the forty years of farming in Rishon Lezion.
