Miriam Freiman was born in Russia. In 1882, shortly after the village was founded, she came to Eretz Israel with her six children and joined her husband, the founder, Aharon Mordehai Freiman.
She worked alongside him on their farm and was known as "Ikara" - a farmer in her own right. And when he set up the Sephardi Beh Midrash on their property, they were together reconized as the founders of the institution.
