Michal Toporovsky was born in Bitrinoslov, Russia. In 1882 he came to Eretz Israel togther with his eldest son Itzhak Leib, and was one of the founders of Rishon Le Zion together with him.
He was 70 years old when he came and lived to the ripe old age of 100.
He was the only old man to settle in Rishon le Zion in its early years.
When the synagogue was built he volunteered to act as cantor and as lay-reader and he did so for four years.
Michal Toporovsky died in Rishon Le Zion and was buried in the old cemetery.
