Signatories to the 1897 village charter
"Here in 1897, after we have chosen our residence to be Rishon Le-Zion fifteen years after we have arrived here from the Diaspora to live from the toil of our labor and to serve as an example in the land of our forefathers in our moral, spiritual and material ways to our brothers scattered around the world, we are gathered here today to prepare our regulations stated as follows, so that w e may make good the losses of those things required by our beloved village, for the benefit of the community and to bring true peace to the inhabitants".
First regulation- not to be altered
"For every citizen of the village to try to make his happiness flourish, to earn a living, to manifest peaceful unity among each other, so that we may achieve the lofty aims we have set before us".
